Day 2 of the 300-mile challenge
This morning I woke up sore from yesterday’s 25.75 mile ride. My knee was sore as well as my gluteus maximus. I’m trying to work out a sane schedule to take my rides and get the mileage in. I think from this point forward, I’ll have one long ride a week and keep the rest of the week to anywhere between 10-15 miles.
This evening I ended up riding 16.78 miles and I’m feeling accomplished. This ride wasn’t as crazy as yesterday when I had brake fade, but I did encounter two pickup trucks pulling trailers really badly that didn’t see me, a teenage cyclist that was all over the place in the bike lane on a busy street, and two geniuses on dirt bikes that came out of nowhere that proceeded to cut me off on a busy intersection. I read recently that August 2nd is the worst day for accidents all year long. I believe it after everything I encountered during this ride!
As of right now I’m at 42.5 miles and have 14.2% of my journey completed. I’m staying laser focused for the 300-mile goal. It’s the least I can do for a good cause!
Until tomorrow,
John
