Day 8 of the 300-mile challenge
This morning we were packed in with the marine layer again. Originally I was going to bike in the morning and do stuff around the house in the afternoon. I decided to do a “wait and see” approach to see if we’d have a break in the marine layer. By early afternoon the sun and blue skies were out so I took advantage and took my ride. The wind was calm and it was nice and warm during the ride. I went down to the Arcata Bottoms and rode around McKinleyville for a grand total of 22.85 miles today! I’m now at 46.3% complete of my 300-mile journey!
Riding in warmer weather seems to be the key with my joints. Specifically my knees. Over the past few days, riding in the cooler weather due to the marine layer has really aggravated my knees more than anything. Today was a different story with the warmer weather. My knees feel pretty good after the 22.85 mile ride.
This month will continue to be challenging as it is usually my busiest month of the year at work. I’m knocking out some longer rides as I have time, just in case I end up riding less milage during the busy time. I do plan on riding every day this month. The question at this point is: will I surpass the 300-mile mark? At the pace I’m going it most certainly is a possibility. We shall see!
Until the next ride,
John
